WHEN IT MATTERS
Maltron BioScan
Maltron BioScan
Our one touch screen display allows access to commonly used functions increasing efficiency, and providing intuitive menu reducing set-up times, while also minimising training requirements.
Instant Clinical Assessment
Patients are at the heart of what we do, and the BioScan touch i8 is able to accurately assess, monitor, detect and help diagnose conditions by measuring body composition levels quickly and accurately.
Body Composition
Early detection of imbalance in your body composition, allows for earlier intervention and prevention.
Excessive Body Fat in relation to Lean body mass, can increase risks of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and more. Our bodies are complex organisms made up of many tissues that change as our body develops. It is important to know how these body compartments change as we age.
Malnutrition

Inadequate nutrition has been identified as a significant risk factor.
Malnutrition remains a largely unrecognised problem, and is assessed very subjectively. It is one of the leading causes of increased morbidity and mortality. Malnutrition assessment performed using BioScan touch i8 is quick easy and non-invasive, non-intrusive. An important clinical tool for evaluating the metabolic status of patients.
Fluid Balance
Fluid balance is integral component of any treatment to prevent under, or over hydration, both of which have demonstrated to have significant effects on intradialytic morbidity and long-term cardiovascular complications. Correct maintenance of fluid balance is vital.
Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR)

Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The evaluation of renal function is therefore of critical importance in diabetic subjects. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best measure of overall kidney function in health and disease. Serum creatinine concentration is also used as an indirect marker of GFR.
Dry Weight
BioScan
Achieving correct Dry Weight is important in order to avoid under- or over-hydration. Both effect intradialytic morbidity and long-term cardiovascular complications. Removal of fluid is performed by ultrafiltration in order to get to a clinically derived value for “dry weight.”
Kt/V
Kt/v is used to quantify how well your haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment adequacy is removing waste products from the body. Dialysis is necessary in order to remove this waste, such as urea from the blood in patients with kidney failure. High urea levels of other harmful waste products building up.
Measure of adequacy shows how well the dialysis is working. Special tests are also carried out to make sure enough water and waste products are being cleared from the blood, in order to keep you well.
Pre/Post Tracking
Early indication of effectiveness of treatment allowing you to optimise the treatment Rate of change of treatment
Pre and Post assessment allows you to establish the goals and track the changes. Pre and Post assessment changes can be observed. To determine the degree of over hydration in the body assessment is performed at the start of treatment and Post assessment is performed at the end.
The difference between the Pre and Post is calculated for each patient to facilitate comparison. The patient is tracked throughout the treatment along with the rate of change.
Ultrafiltration Rate (UFR)
The rate at which fluid is removed during ultrafiltration plays an important role
Kidneys are one of the most vital organs in our bodies. Harmful by-products generated in our metabolic processes are removed from our bodies. Not only waste material but all the excess substances like water, glucose, vitamins etc. are also removed to establish the balance.
Ultrafiltration is the process where the blood is filtered under high pressure, and most of the substances in blood go into the nephron. In haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment it is important to quantify the blood flow rate, and the dialysate flow rate to account for the fluid removal (ultrafiltration) during dialysis as well as urea generation.
Bone Mineral Density

Osteoporosis assessment – Early diagnoses of Low Bone Density and Mineral Composition
BioScan touch i8 a novel, non-invasive and safe technique for assessing Bone density and Mineral composition. The assessment could help determine risk factors to osteoporosis.
Losing bone density is a normal part of aging but in some cases the process is faster which leads to Osteoporosis increasing the risk of fractures. Women are at a greater risk of osteoporosis, particularly if the menopause begins early. At this stage Bone loss is more rapid.
Mineral Composition
Prevention and successful treatment by early warning estimation of deficiency in essential parameters can help with us to understand the complex balance.
Minerals are an essential part of our everyday function in order to carry out many important functions, for growth, reproduction, repair and maintain overall good health.
Protein is a macronutrient essential for repairing and building muscle and organ for recovery. A building block for hormones and enzymes that regulate metabolism and other body functions. Lacking Protein may lead to tiredness, weakness, poor recovery. Potassium is also a very important mineral for the proper function of all cells, tissues, and organs in the human body.

Medical devices have become such a vital part of modern healthcare, practically no diagnosis or treatment is possible without them. With this increasing demand of medical devices, the integration and development of software is vital.
Today’s medical devices are increasingly embracing wireless forms of communication technologies, which give them the capability to connect to computers, tablets, smart phones and other medical devices in order to exchange information, either in real time or asynchronously.
Furthermore, software applications that can operate across different platforms have made it possible to connect diverse devices with one another. This connectivity has made it possible for doctors to diagnose and treat patients remotely.
